LEA 2011 shpk is a company that operates in the field of production and processing of fruits and vegetables. The company has 12 years of experience in this sector. Apart from the cultivation of several vegetables, LEA 2011 shpk is focused on collection, sorting, freezing and export of berry fruits. Blueberries and blackberries are largely collected by small farmers in the remote area of Tropoje, in the north part of Albania close to the border with Kosovo and Montenegro. The company had exported these products to regional countries, like Hungary and Italy.
LEA 2011 shpk was able to add value to these products through certification of organic standard. The company was certified in August according to bio.inspecta organic standard which is equivalent to European Organic Standard in accordance to Regulation (EC) No 834/2007. Through this certification, the company not only complies with the requirements of the client, but also can guarantee abetter price for its products and a very good continuity in the future.
Besides, the other product that was certified according to organic standard is chestnuts. This product is collected also in the area of Tropoje. LEA 2011 shpk reports that the quantities of exported chestnuts have significantly increased thanks to the organic certification. It has to be highlighted that from the certification are also profiting 45 small scale farmers and their families that are involved in the collection of berry fruitsand chestnuts in the remote area of Tropoje.
