Description

Tropoja chestnuts are the only Albanian chestnuts fulfilling the quality required for export to Italy and other European countries. The chestnut massif of Tropoja, which is the biggest of the Balkans, consists of a 2’400 ha of chestnut forest divided by rivers and valleys into smaller plots. Albanian chestnuts are known for their high nutritional values. The Chestnuts Massif has a surface of 2400 hectares and an average rudiment of 40 kg of chestnuts per root. It is located in villages of Dragobi, Markaj and extended to Lekbibaj area.

Our Company

LEA 2011 Shpk operates in the field of collection and commercialization of nuts and fruits and vegetables. Mr. Çitozi has a long experience as collector and trader of chestnut and watermelon. According to chestnut, the company is collecting from farmers of Tropoja, so it does not have any plantation. In 2016, the company collected and sold a quantity of 1,200 tons of chestnuts.The company owns 35 ha of agricultural land in Durres that is planted with watermelon. From this planted area, Mr. Çitozi obtains a production of 600 tons of watermelon. Besides the own production in company land, Mr. Çitozi collects about 400 tons of watermelon from farmers in nearby area and from area of Divjaka. So, in total, the company is selling about 1,000 tons of watermelon per year. The planted and collected varieties of watermelon are Crisby, Selin, Obla and Paradiso. Chestnuts prevail in the structure of revenues, due to profitable prices that can be obtained in foreign markets (Italy).
